Assistance Diamond Hill

At approximately 16:00 on 18tht Sept, Galway MRT were put on standby by Clifden Gardai to respond to a walker with a suspected diabetic incident on the summit of Diamond Hill. The Coast Guard Helicopter were also put on standby. The walker recovered and was escorted down the hill by their own party and the team was stood down. Galway MRT would like to thank the volunteers who responded to this callout.
Night Rescue - Tully Mountain

At approximately 22:00 on 10 August, Galway Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by Galway Gardai to assist a party of two stranded on Tully Mountain after dark. The casualties were located using a decription of the location obtained prior to losing phone contact. The search party assessed their condition and returned them to the roadside safely. Galway MRT would like to thank the volunteers who responded to this callout.
Call Out Report: Assistance - Maumtrasna

At approximately 17:00 on 27 July, Galway MRT were tasked by Galway Gardaí to respond to an injured person in the Maumtrasna mountains in support of the Ambulance Service. The casualty was evacuated to hospital by Ambulance Service personnel and Medevac 112 Air Ambulance. The Team was stood down en-route to the incident scene.
Call-Out Report: Rescue - Diamond Hill

At 13:30 on Sunday 21 July 2013, Galway MRT was alerted to an incident at Connemara National Park by Park Staff. A male casualty had fallen approximately 30m while ascending Diamond Hill and sustained serious injuries during the fall. Galway MRT members immediately responded and Rescue 118 was tasked from Sligo. The injured party was located by Rescue 118 and Galway MRT at the bottom of a steep slope. The casualty was assessed and treated on-scene and airlifted to hospital by Rescue 118. Galway MRT wishes to thank Rescue 118 for their response and treatment of the casualty and in particular, to thank the National Park staff and members of the public who remained with the casualty and assisted in his extraction.
Call Out Report: Assistance - Joyce Country

At 16:30 on Saturday 20th July 2013, Galway MRT attended to a walker on the Joyce Country Challenge who was suffering from suspected heatstroke. The casualty was stabilised and monitored until the Ambulance Service arrived and escorted the casualty to hospital.
