Call-Out Report: Rescue - Maumturks

Galway MRT responded to a request for assistance from the Organisers of the Maumturks Challenge. A hiker descending Corc Og sustained a leg injury in the vicinity of Cruiscin. The Team dispatched a hill party who stabilised the casualty and determined that a helicopter evacuation was the best option. The Coast Guard tasked Rescue 115 from Shannon who retrieved the casualty and delivered her to University College Hospital Galway. Galway MRT would like to the volunteers who responded to this callout, the Valencia Coast Guard and Rescue crew at Shannon and the organisers of the Maumturks Challenge.
Call-Out Report: Night Search - Knockpasheemore

The team responded to a call from Clifden Gardaí to investigate an empty car in the Inagh Valley along with lights seen on the slopes of Knockpasheemore. The team responded with a night search of the mountain in difficult weather. A hill party was eventually located just before the team were about to initiate a major search, with all returning to the road safely.

Call-Out Report: Rescue - Twelve Bens

Team called out to assist walker who became disorientated in fog on ridge below Binn Dubh. Walker had ascended from Inagh Valley via Mám Eidhneach. He became disorientated in fog while trying to circle around a crag on the ridge and dropped into Gleann Chóchan. He contacted Milllstreet Gardaí who tasked the team. An 3 member first response party was dispatched and located the walker who signalled with his yellow jacket and whistle. A second party was dispatched with crag gear and the casualty was assisted out out of a gully and walked off the hill.
Call-Out Report: Search - Twelve Bens

Two fog-bound and subsequently benighted walkers requested assistance. The Team was mobilised and searched a wide area in worsening conditions. They were located unharmed shortly before midnight and successfully assisted back to their car.
Call-Out Report: Evacuation - Garraun

A competitor in a mountain race had a suspected ankle injury reported on Binn Fhraoigh. An event organiser was at casualty site at time of accident. 5 team members were already in position on Garraun, and mobilised towards casualty site. The Coast Guard helicopter attempted an evacuation but due to deteriorating weather conditions was unable to perform an air-lift. Casualty was evacuated by stretcher in poor weather conditions. Ambulance tasked by Gardaí to transport casualty to UHG.
